FISHING WITH THE CHINESE IN GHANA(AFRICA) IS DANGEROUS- GHANA NAVY IS NOT DOING ENOUGH

Many african lives has been lost because of the unimaginable treatment given them by the Chinese while on the boat. One fisherman confessed that the Africans in the Chinese boats are treated less than human.

These are some of the reasons;

·        They are not provided with safety dresses

·        They bath twice in a month while the Chinese bath everyday

·        They are not provided with good water to drink; thus the water that is used for junk work that is the water given to them to drink.

·        Sometimes they  spit and blow smoke  on them just for fun

Aside this treatment they  also engage in  illegal fishing habits. Thus ;

·        The use other nets aside the ones approved by the food and drugs  board of Ghana to catch fingerlings and when they are suspected by the navy they intentionally shut down the engine to complicate the investigations.

·        When an African dies in the course of the journey he is placed  where the fishes are packed which is very unhygienic. They normally don’t report the actual cause of death of Africans to the authorities and while on the boat, they warn the Africans to keep their mouth shut. The Africans are  also bribed with loads of fishes when  such incidents occur.

According to the  fisherman, Ghana Navy needs to be strict when it comes to inspections. the good moments on board are moments that the Navy comes for inspections and they sometimes spend up to a week inspecting and those are the moments that their employers treat them as humans..... source:asempafm
