‘’I WAS PAID ONLY GHC20 FOR WINNING A SILVER MEDAL FOR GHANA IN 2008’’ – Clement Agyemang   weeps.

This interview was granted by  atinkafm in accra on april 2015. Clement  Agyemang  was interviewed based on the big blow news  that Ghana had ‘’ MAGARETH SIMPSON(Maggie) CHANGES NATIONALITY TO MAURITIUS’’. This news kept people wondering why  she would take such a decision while others were raining insults on her. Few years back one of Ghana’s finest  IGNATIUS GHANSAH also changed his nationality to Netherland and its gradually becoming a trend.

This is what Clement had to say :
‘’ the athletes are really going through a lot but cannot bring it out because they keep hoping things would be better though they keep complaining. You can’t imagine what we as athletes go through in Ghana. Sometimes the athletes pay their own plane tickets for competitions and never get paid though they come back with medals. Even when you come back they don’t  visit to motivate you until another competition pops up.
Maggie has been complaining bitterly about the kind of treatment they give her and she  even told me that about 5 countries are convincing her to nationalize for them but she felt like fighting for his country until she took her final decision this month. I am really happy she took that decision.
Those working at the Ghana Athletics Association sometimes forget that it is because of us that they are in air-conditions , buying big cars and mansions. When you talk too much then they begin to tag you as a bad nut but I wont stop talking. In 2008 I was paid GHc20.oo for coming home with a silver medal and I regret and I continue to regret  for not nationalizing for another country because I also had those opportunities .’’

SIGNS THAT SHOWS GOVERNMENT OF GHANA DOES NOT  TAKE ATHLETICS SERIOUSLY
·        There are no athletics tracks or indoor games  in our stadiums . thus no provision was made for athletics when  the  stadiums were renovated for  ‘ CAN 2008’ held in Ghana
·        The ‘Azumah nelson sports stadium’ which was the hope for indoor games and athletics has now turned into a canteen and a place for event organization  such as funerals , wedding and parties.
·        The legon sports stadium has been left  uncompleted  for the past  7 years

GOD BLESS OUR HOMELAND GHANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
